although I thought Phil was better than Bobby (hav'nt seen either in a couple of years) I can't get into it either - would rather see DSO but have had enough of them already. Bobby went wrong in my opinion when he started doing tunes he should not have touched - ie To Lay Me Down,etc...

If he wanted to do his stuff and have someone do some of Jer's covers (I don't know - Baby Blue + shit like that) and ALSO introduce some new stuff - ok. But dead shows like a cover band with an original member just does'nt cut it - and add in the fact that the key missing member was THE BAND just put's the icing on the cake.

I only get to see them infrequently where I live as they don't come through that often. I always have to drive at least 1 1/2 - 2 hours to see either Ratdog or Phil, which I do, but it would be nice to see them in southern Ohio.
As far as being a cover band, or not up to Dead speed, I respet your views but I just don't see it that way.
The Dead at the end were really a let down, and for me personally, the golden era was 1970-1977, which ended thirty years ago.
Ratdog is decent, trippy music with technical skills balanced by a little sloppiness.
I think the Phil 2006 tours were killer. Great band at the height of their collective power.
